RE:  Grandview Cemetery Annual Letter

 

As another year has come and gone, we would like to take this opportunity to provide an update and thank you for your continued support of Grandview Cemetery. 

 

As you know, Grandview Cemetery operates independently.  That means we do not receive any funding from the town or township trustee.  As you can imagine, it takes a lot of money to keep the cemetery looking beautiful!  In 2025, our expenses totaled $31,706.72. 

 

At the beginning of 2025, our operating balance was $16,304.91, which was $7,769.89 more than the beginning of 2024.  At the end of 2025, our operating balance was $15,923.93, plus $10,000 that we invested in a 6-month CD.

 

In 2026, there will be an increase in the per-mow and fuel costs.  Our equipment is getting older; therefore, maintenance is more expensive and we are going to have to buy a new mower within the next season or two.  In addition to maintaining the cemetery, we also pay for insurance, maintain the website, put 15% of our lot sales in a state mandated Perpetual Fund, and other miscellaneous expenses.  Due to these anticipated costs, we have adopted a budget of $36,550.00 for 2026.

 

We mentioned in last year’s letter, that the plot rates would be increased. As of January 1, 2026, the plot prices increased to $450.00 each. 

 

In addition to our normal ways of giving opportunities, we have added an opportunity for local businesses to be a part of keeping Grandview Cemetery maintained.  There are 4 tiers of donation opportunities and these businesses will be recognized on our website, banner or plaque, depending on the tier they selected.  We hope our local businesses will see this as an opportunity to support Grandview Cemetery
